Biography

Jamil Usman, born on May 27, 1953, in Khulna, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), navigated a life shaped by migration and multicultural experiences. Surviving the 1971 massacre, he migrated to Pakistan before embarking on a journey that led him to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and finally to the United States in 1999.

Educated in Karachi, Usman pursued an illustrious academic path, culminating in an MA in English from the University of Karachi, an LLB from Sindh Muslim Law College, and a BA from St. Patrick’s Govt. College.

Throughout his career, Usman held diverse roles, including technical writer at M&J Engineering P.C. and ATANE Consulting in New York, and program administrator at Columbia University and Rutgers University.
A prolific writer, Usman’s literary contributions span various genres and languages. From English science fiction adventures to Urdu poetry and children’s books, his works reflect a deep understanding of culture, history, and human resilience. Usman’s accolades include the Distinguished Ambassador of Islam and Visionary of Peace Award and the Medal of Honor from the Society of Urdu Literature, among others.
